Rucksack & Road

Rucksack & Road started with a simple idea: to go beyond travel tips and checklists. I wanted to create a space that inspires adventure, encourages exploration and learning, and makes trip planning quicker and less stressful — so you can explore the places you visit with confidence, ease, and a sense of wonder.

This blog begins with London — because I live here, because I know the city inside out, and because it’s always changing. But Rucksack & Road won’t stop at London. Whether I’m sharing a weekend escape in the UK, a hidden gem in Slovakia, or a far-flung adventure, I want to go beyond the obvious. I want to explore why a place matters — and why it’s worth discovering with curiosity, not just a camera.

I’m not a tour guide. I’m someone who loves planning as much as exploring — and I want to help you experience places in a way that feels authentic, connected, and fun.

What to expect from this blog?

Stories with heart. Itineraries that don’t feel like homework. Ideas for seeing familiar places in unfamiliar ways. A little help making travel with kids less stressful — and more fun. And the belief that meaningful adventures don’t have to be expensive, rushed, or Insta-perfect.
Sometimes, the biggest discoveries come from walking a different route, asking better questions, or simply noticing more.

ABOUT ME

The person behind the blog

Travel is a big part of my life. When I’m not wandering through London’s streets and parks, climbing up to rooftop gardens for a new perspective, or slipping into a free gallery just to spend time with one painting, I’m usually planning my next trip. Over the years, I’ve travelled through Canada and the USA, wandered the ruins of Egypt, soaked up the rhythms of Cuba and Mexico, and lost myself in the medinas of Morocco. I’ve basked in the sun in Spain and Portugal, explored the charm of France, wandered the towns of Slovakia and the Czech Republic, eaten my weight in mezze in Turkey, swum with sharks in the Maldives, and felt the crisp air of Norway and Denmark against breathtaking backdrops.
